Leadership 1

VLC

Successfully complete a VLC approved by the NVSC

Leadership 2

a)     Instructional Leadership

Assist in conducting teaching sessions in a leadership camp

Lead a committee, as either the Chairman or Vice-Chairman

Skills 1

a)      First Class Scout Standard

Skills 2

Night Exploration

Plan, Organise and conduct a night exploration of distance no less than 20km

Basic Exploration Log (is required for those without FCSS)

Activity 1

 Show evidence of progress and sustained interest in an indoor or outdoor activity over a minimum of 6 months

Activity 2

a)     Physical Fitness

NAPFA Silver Award

b)     Achieved NAPFA Bronze and one of the following:

A)    Swim at least 400m continuously in front crawl of breast stroke

B)    Run and/or jog at least 5km continously

C)    Kayak at least 5 nautical miles in an hour

D)   Walk at least 6km in an hour

Activity 3

SIC

Successfully complete a SIC approved by the NVSC

Responsibility

Emergency and Rescue Skills

a)     Standard First Aid Course by Singapore Red Cross Society

b)     Adult First Aid Course by SJAB

c)      First Aid Qualification by National First Aid Council

d)     Bronze Medallion by Singapore Life Saving Society

e)     Community Emergency Prepardness Programme by SCDF

f)       Similar Course approved by NVSC

Service

Community Service

Provide a minimum of 10 hours of service over no less than two months in the same organisation

Citizenship

a)     National Defence

Successfully complete the Total Defence or Crime Prevention Badge, Pre-NS Camp or act as a NE / TD Ambassador

b)     Community Living

Make an arranged visit to a govt dept, stat board, CC, or public organisation and a make a report on how it is organised and its purpose in society

c)      Cultural Involvement

A) Participate in cultural exchange btween at least 2 diff cultures in S’pore or with visiting groups from overseas

B) Participate in an overseas Scout Jamb or Cultural Exchange Programme approved by the VSL

d)     Heritage

Successfully complete the National Heritage Trail Badge for Venture Scouts

e)     National Attractions

Successfully complete the Scout Docent Badge

f)       Citizenship

Participate in activities that the VSL deems to promote citenzenship or community living

Personal Development

1. Career Awareness

a)     Attend a talk, seminar or exhibition on Career Guidance and Development. Discuss with VSL and Present to own unit on choosing career.

b)     Visit chosen industry, corporation, stat board or medium sized company. Discuss with VSL or present to own unit

1. Self Improvement

Successfully complete a course or seminar in one of the listed topics.

1. Spritual Development

a)     Understand the religious policy of TSSA

b)     Participate regularly in personal religious activity.

c)      Make a study of at least 3 religious groups, explaining similarities and differences

1. Physical Development

Show improvement of overall performance and genuine effort in physical recreation or sports

Self Reliance 1

Survivor Skills

1. Pack and know the usuage of a personal survival kit
2. Demonstrate two techniques of fire starting
3. Demonstrate knowledge of rescue signals and two techniques of sending them
4. Demonstrate how to source, collect and prepare water for consumption
5. Demonstrate how to prepare baits and make animal traps
6. Demonstrate construction of an improvised shelter for two people
7. Prepare a meal for two comprising of rice, 3 main dishes, soup and a hot drink using backwoodsman cooking

Self Reliance 2

Home Economics

a)     Mend and iron clothing

b)     Wash, dry and fold clothing

c)      Change bed linens and curtains

d)     Sweep and mop, or vacuum, floor

e)     Marketing for fresh ingredients for a simple meal for 4 people

f)       Prepare a simple meal for 4 people

g)     Change light bulbs and fuses

h)     Clear a choked sink

i)       Hang a frame onto a wall (with no existing nail or hook available)

j)       Change water and clean a medium sized fish tank

Note:Complete 7 out of 10 components to pass
